Trending Fashion: DIY the LWD

White is so cool this season and it’s all over the runways,

from 3.1 Phillip Lim, Botega Venetta, Nina Ricci, and Zac Posen.

It’s a nice clean and cool palette that will leave so much room for imagination!

Whether you go minimal or accessorize with every color in town,

it’s definitely a trend worth trying this season!

With that said, I’ve decided to give my LBD a break this friday night and opt for the little white dress.

The LWD trend is also hot this season and guess what?

With a pattern from McCall’s (M6886) and affordable fabric from Michael Levine’s

this LWD look is sooooooo easy to whip up!

UPDATE. Fabric used for this dress was found at their Loft store in downtown LA, but any white jersey you find would totally work for this look.

AND when you make it yourself, YOU control the fit.

Additionally, you control some of the details as well,

I have customized this McCall’s pattern by doing the following,

  • Lengthening the sleeve to the elbow.
  • Extending the hemline below the knee for that cool midi-length trend that is soooo popular right now.

I love the thought of a LWD!! I also really like this fabric! I checked the Michael Levine website and didn’t see any fabric like this with the raised design. Do you by chance have a direct link?

Sorry for not responding sooner, I was out of town. Thanks for the comment! Felisha, I am so happy you like this look! The fabric used for this dress was found at their Loft store in downtown LA, but any white jersey you find would totally work for this look. I personally would use any white jersey, this raised design is what I had in stock. Thanks again! xoxo

So classy and cute. I also tired to find the fabric you used with no luck. Do you remember the fabric type or product number? I’ve got the pattern just needing the fabric. thanks!

Thank you so much for your comment, I was out of town so I apologize for not responding sooner, Nat. Unfortunately, the fabric used for this exact dress was found at their Loft store in downtown LA, it will not be available anywhere online. Luckily, the little white dress is just that! 🙂 A white dress. The color and cut is what makes this look so classy, any white jersey you find would totally work for this look. Thanks again and happy sewing, Nat!! xoxoxoxo
