Flower Power: DIY Anthro Flower Necklace

Inspired by spring, my DIY Anthro Flower Necklace tutorial is easy to try along with my favorite ways to work a little flower power into the wardrobe department this season.

My favorite part about my time in LA (besides the beaches) were the bright flowers and constant sunshine – it was the best. Then we moved to a cute town 2o minutes outside of Seattle and it’s a little different here, gorgeous but different. During those cold, dark, wet winter days there was not a flower in sight and sometimes the sun did not show it’s face for weeks. But guess what? Winter is over! It’s April and things are starting to bloom and blossom and the days are longer and brighter. I am obsessed with all things flowers and light – ha! It’s amazing the appreciation you get when you no longer have something in your life. It’s like I have been on a flower and sunny-day fast and it’s over and I feel rejuvenated and lifted. I’m pretty much blooming myself with such positive spirits – ha! The rest of the fashion world must be fasting too because designers like,
Kate Spade (see collection here), are playing up the flower game and to be honest,
offering the most perfect daisy accessories (link) on the market!

I’ve loved Daises since Meg Ryan’s You’ve Got Mail “friendliest flower” scene, because it’s so true, right? (watch here)

I think most people can feel a little intimidated by a bright floral fashion statement,
I love it but when I want to go for some thing a little more subtle,
a headband is the perfect quick fix and you an currently find these and MORE headbands (here).

With that said, I found the BEST Anthropologie Flower Necklace (seen here). Isn’t it gorgeous?
This “Un Fleur Bib Necklace” is very reminiscent of the good examples I mention earlier EXCEPT,
with a little will power and ingenuity,

YOU can make this Anthro Flower Necklace YOURSELF, say what?!?

  7. Pinch each end of the wire around the nail, don’t be afraid to pinch hard (this will help shape each flower tip).
Remove flower from the nail. The center nail may come up when you do this and that’s okay,
just slide it out the other end.

  8. Continue to wrap your wire until the both ends approximately are the same length.

There are a BUNCH of steps but I wanted the directions to be so clear as you followed along with me.
This necklace comes sooooooooo close to the real thing that’s hard to tell them apart, right?
This cost me nothing to make because I already own so many jewelry findings but if you ever hit up at good sale at your local craft store (I did Joann Fabrics), AND since it’ so easy to make, you can make one for you, your best friend, mom, grandmother because Mother’s day is approaching fast and look how thoughtful you are!!
What I also like about this piece is that you can mix it up in so many ways to gave it your own personal touch. Joann Fabrics has a great variety of colored jewelry wires and beads and accessories. You cannot go wrong!

Good luck enjoy the started of another beautiful spring season and have a glamorous day!
