Love fresh white denim this season? It’s summer’s easiest trend to try and making this easy gingham bow and ruffle top is on your summer to-do list.
White is a really fun trend this summer especially when it’s in denim form! We all love a great denim and what’s fun about this piece is that is can easily go from casual to dressy in a flash! Depending on the day’s schedule, the white denim jean can be dressed up with fun platform summer sandals like these Sam Edelman heels I’m wearing throughout this post with a flirty blouse or dress down with an easy tee. Wear all white or accent it with the perfect top, these white jeans consistently has this fresh vibe feeling going on!
Here are some of my favorite combos below and ALL under $100!
For this specific look, I wanted something very girlie and flirty, my top is inspired from pieces in the collage above.
To recreate this Gingham Bow Blouse Top, you will need the following…
Directions are pretty easy.
The only alterations I made using this pattern was shortening the length of the bodice to achieve that cropped blouse look AND the most important part, when I laid out my bodice pattern on the fold, I lined my neckline to the fold as instructed by the pattern instructions HOWEVER, the bottom hem of the shirt I swung the top 2” away from the fold as seen below.
Once the fabric is cut, sew according to pattern instructions, except the hem.
The hem treatment to this top is the 1” pleated/ruffle hem as seen below,
I used with 1.5” hemmed strips of gingham fabric. This hem treatment is so narrow that it will be easier to hem the fabric first THEN attach the ruffle to your top. The strips of gingham should be 2 times longer than the your sleeve and bodice hem measurement.
Adding bow is the easiest thing you will do, using the instructions for the Gucci Inspired top create the pattern for your bow, sew together, then attach to the center of your bow with a strip of hemmed and finished piece of gingham fabric. Secure into place with a thread and needle, and hand sew your bow onto your top. Easy stuff, right? YES because this simplicity is such an easy thing to whip up, I promise.
