If you love caftans and enjoyed last summer’s super Easy Caftan tutorial, then you will love my part 2. With some extra lace, you can update this easy tutorial within minutes!
I love the caftan trend. There’s nothing better than feeling unrestrictedly cool in a super glam look when it’s insanely hot and humid outside! I’m obsessed with (on sale) looks from designers like Camilla (30% off), Lotta Stensson (40% off), and Reem Acra (70% off) as seen below.
This is THE outfit to wear on that dreamy “perfect date” – long walks on the beach. I love this look because the fabric flows flirtatiously in the wind, there’s give around your midsection (yes, I can hide that food baby from dinner), and it’s freaking comfortable to wear. We’ve seen this flirty and forgiving dresses this summer and the best part? This dress also translates from date night to day time with the easiest of accessories! SHOES.
So here’s what you need to complete this EASY CAFTAN TUTORIAL – PART 2,
- Create the pattern/dress for your caftan, according to last summer’s EASY CATAN TUTRORAL (here).
- Before sewing seams in place, attach lace hem. The lace hem should equal the width of your dress, as seen below.
- Add neckline trim. I found this leftover neckline trim at Michael Levine’s Loft store but you can use almost ANY lace/embellished trim to add to your neckline. Even if it’s just accessorizing with a flashy necklace.
So this is pretty right? And it’s something that can be made in an afternoon, just in time to enjoy the rest of the warm weather season! And if you choose instead to buy one of the many cool caftans ShopBop.com has to offer, I know you will be in good hands!
Thanks for stopping by and have a glamorous day!
