Red Carpet Riva: Golden Globes 2019
You can be creating or complaining but never both at the same time. – Dan Sullivan
Around this time of year, I start to think about the things I want to do… and ponder about all of the red carpet style dresses I need in my closet.
I reflect on the previous year and think about what I would change… more red carpet dresses.
Regardless of the adventures I took or the places I experienced, the one thing I want to focus on next year is: living on purpose… in a fancy dress dang it!
So naturally, I’m grabbing all the little dreams I have (in luxurious textiles) and literally making them come to life!
This dress was one of those expressions. Imagine the dress. Plan it. Sew it. Wear it.
I used patterns M7160 and Burda 6848. I have used both patterns a lot over the last few years, here and here. They make the best slopers for future dress designs! The embellishments were a TON of fun because they actually came from jewelry. That’s right, I took apart a bunch of floral accessories and hand sewn each piece – almost 40 pieces. It was totally worth it! The floral pieces came from Claire’s (HERE) and when you consider their “Buy 1, Get 1 free” sale – it didn’t hit the pocket book too hard!
The dress was inspired by love for the red carpet fashion for the Golden Globes and one of their nominated films, Crazy Rich Asians – my new favorite movie! It funny and fashionable – my favorite “f” words!
If you decide to give this look a try or find something fun at Claire’s to embellish with, share it with me on Instagram, @RivaLaDiva and/or give me a shout out on Facebook at Riva La Diva. I would love to hear from you and celebrate with you on your newest creation or discovery!
Until then, have a glamorous day, babes!
xoxo, Riva
