DIY Elizabeth and James Sheer Skirt

More skirt talk on the blog this week,
after my Michael Kors and Anthropologie posts you think I would have enough for a while, right?

Guess what? Not yet!

Because this one is different.

It’s a totally different take on the whole pool side/beach cover up.

When I saw this amazing skirt from Elizabeth and James Spring collection (seen here and here),
Erin Fetherston has a similar one with lace, here.

I thought,

I NEED. I WANT. I…….. cannot afford.
So, you know me, I MAKE.

Sheer is so fun this season and this look does not disappoint especially with a cool contrasting suit!

So let’s break down this look.

I’m loving this skirt and I have a few summer swim parties that I am so excited to wear it.

I love this pink check and black and white stripe combo.

It’s totally glam and clean with such a classic silhouette,
yet new and daring because it’s see thru and completely unexpected!

Hopefully, you can take advantage of their season’s fun trend with style!

Hi Riva darling! I made your frayed edge denim top on Monday and wore it all week, ABSOLUTELY LUV IT!
Purchased this amaze balls pink fabric at Joanne’s yesterday.
Could you please provide another link or two that are more detailed on how to make your fab skirt?? Also, seems like your gathering was kept to a minimum (which I like) and also showed the fabric to its best advantage!!!! May I ask the formula u used for your gathering?.. ( 2 x your waist measurement)?? You truly are the diva when it comes to make your own designer fashion!! Xoxo

Oh goooooood, Karen! I am so happy to read this!
Here’s another link that will hopefully aid you a little more in this skirt making process,
http://boredandcrafty.com/?p=5866. Hopefully that link can break it down for you a little clearer.
and YES! I did 2x my waist measurement minus 1 inch… not for any specific reason on the “minus 1inch” except for the fact that I ran out of fabric. 😉 Thanks for the love, girl! You totally made my day! xoxo

Hi luv! Making the fab pink skirt/cover up tomorrow! Can’t wait for some sewing time. What r your thoughts on wearing this with a catsuit underneath for casual everyday wear (not just keeping it poolside). Keep up the fabulous work of keeping us all inspired!!!! Xo
